Green Flea Market Charity Bazaar in Shaanxi

The Women & Green Living International Culture Week – Green Flea Market Charity Bazaar and Donation Activity opened last Sunday at the Northwestern Polytechnical University-affiliated primary school. Vice president of Shaanxi Women’s Federation Zhou Yufeng presided over the event, which was jointly sponsored by Shaanxi Women’s Federation, Shaanxi Volunteer Mothers Association for Environmental Protection, the International Fund for China’s Environment and other units in Shaanxi. Among the 1,500 who came to the bazaar were secretary of Party Leadership Group and President of Shaanxi Women’s Federation Liu Lige, Program director of UN Women Dr Eliza Chin, president of the International Fund for China’s Environment He Ping, news media volunteers, and students of the Northwestern Polytechnical University-affiliated primary school. School master of Northwestern Polytechnical University affiliated primary school Wang Caifeng addressed the activity.

The six previous green flea markets held by Shaanxi Women’s Federation and Shaanxi Volunteer Mothers Association for Environmental Protection have raised more than 60,000 yuan (US$ 9,393.6) in donations that have bought 5,000 plants. Sunday’s market raised 40,101.9 yuan (US$ 6,278.4) which will be donated to an ecological afforestation community in Jingbian County of central China’s Shannxi province, founded by national model worker and desertification prevention heroine Niu Yuqin.
