IFCE 2015 Annual Reception Successfully Held in Washington, DC

The 2015 IFCE Annual Reception was held on February 26th at Foley & Lardner LLP in Washington DC, celebrating Chinese Lunar New Year together with IFCE partners and friends.  The reception started with a presentation titled “Energy Efficiency – First Tool to Mitigate Climate Change in China and the U.S.” delivered by Dr. Ming Yang, the new IFCE board director. Then, President Dr.Ping He summarized past IFCE activities in 2014 and introduced upcoming events and plans in 2015 .

IFCE activities in 2014 mainly include Capitol Forum on China’s Environment, NGO Capacity Building Training Workshop in Chongqing,  Policy Recommendation to Chinese Government,Cooperative Assessment in Tibetan Regions, U.S.-China Climate Roundtable, IFCE/EmeraldPlanet TV Partnership, and Nu River Forum and Exhibition.

IFCE 2015 Projects include promoting Earth Science Week in China, conducting Comparative Analyses on Sustainable Grassland Governance and Policy Recommendations, U.S.-China Climate Change Roundtable and City Tour, NGO and Social Enterprise Training in Western China, TV Series on Best Sustainable Practices in China, XiangTan Environmental/Energy Tech Incubator,  Youth and Business Green Leadership Training Camp, and Public Environment Support Fund. At the meantime, IFCE will continue developing its Low-Carbon Database and Expert Database.

More than 60 people from U.S. Department of Energy, Department of State, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United States, Energy and Environment-related Think Tanks and NGOs have attended this year’s reception. After Ping’s briefing, Counselor Jianping Mei delivered a speech on behalf of the Chinese Embassy to congratulate IFCE achievements and to express their support to IFCE’s effort in promoting U.S.-China environment, energy and climate change collaborations.
