A desertification control hero honored

Mr. Lo Suikei was named as one of ten individuals who made significant contribution to desertification control in China. IFCE Board Director Mr. Lo, Suikei was named as one of ten individuals who made significant contribution to desertification control in China on Sept. 3, at the conference called First Enterprise Summit on Desertification Control and New Tech Promotion. The conference was jointly organized by China’s Sand Control Industry Association, Desertification Control Office of National Forestry Bureau and other three agencies.

Over 70 years old, Mr. Lo is the founding Chairman of Beijing Doctor Forestry Development, Inc.

The Company is dedicated to utilizing private capitals to implement ecological restoration projects. Since 2002, the company has been focusing on planting trees in Xilingele District of Inner Mongolia and to restore local ecology. To date, theyhave planted 330K trees on 6000 mu of lands. Tree survival rate was 95%, significantly higher than government investment. The challenge now is how to make best use of restored lands and develop ecological economy. In China, most of land restoration projects are carried out by governments. Private investments in desertification control and ecological restoration are very limited.
