US-China Greener Consumption Forum at Washington, DC
Release time:2014-11-10
Women in the U.S. and China are key to transforming the patterns of consumption that are driving climate change, resource depletion and exposure to toxic chemicals. In the U.S., women influence at least 80% of all consumer purchases. In China, women contribute about half of all household income and influence and make at least half of all purchasing decisions. If women in these two “consumer super powers” can be mobilized to use the “power of their purse” to protect the planet, significant progress can be made in creating a greener, cleaner world.
